(Sacramento) – A host of past and present members of the California Legislative Black Caucus were on hand in the State Assembly for the 2017 celebration of Black History Month. Among them was the legendary Speaker Emeritus Willie L. Brown Junior. The former Assembly Speaker noted it had been 22 years since he wielded the gavel in the Assembly and praised the CLBC for its efforts to improve the lives of African-Americans and all people in California. After a video depicting 50 years of CLBC history was shown, Speaker Emeritus Brown said, “It’s appropriate and fitting that there are 50 members of the California Legislature, past and present, who come from the world of African-Americans by heritage and by blood exactly 50 years after the founding of the CLBC.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
