Jones-Sawyer, Speaker Rendon Join Governor Brown for Signing of Historic Climate Change Legislation

(Los Angeles) Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Los Angeles) and Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) joined with Governor Brown, Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de Leon, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills), the authors of California's latest groundbreaking efforts to further our state's Climate Change reduction goals and activities, on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 at the Vista Hermosa National Park, for a ceremony to sign these bills into law.

Asm. Garcia authored AB 197, the Climate Equity and Transparency Act, and Sen. Pavley authored Senate Bill 32, to extend California’s landmark emissions reduction goals, both of which the Governor signed into law at the event. “In passing SB 32, we drew-up a road map. AB 197 is the vehicle that gets us there” said Speaker Rendon. AB 197 also creates a standing joint legislative committee on climate change to oversee activities at the California Air Resources Board. This law was designed to reach all of the state’s communities, especially disadvantaged communities that are seriously harmed by the impact of climate change.
