(Los Angeles) - Over 250 people attended a health fair sponsored by California State Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-Los Angeles), held at “A Place Called Home” in South Los Angeles. The purpose of the event was to educate children and parents about how they can make better choices regarding what they eat, even though fresh and healthy food isn’t always readily available in their neighborhood. The goal is to help families from low-income neighborhoods make healthier choices to avoid maladies like diabetes, heart disease and obesity that often times plague disadvantaged residents.
