(Los Angeles) – In 1996, California was the first state in the nation to legalize medical marijuana. Since that time, California has fallen behind in its efforts to regulate the industry. California State Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-South Los Angeles) co-authored Assembly Bill 266 to help local municipalities regulate the medical marijuana industry and help dispensaries comply with state and local regulations. At a news conference on the steps of Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer’s district office, he and a group of lawmakers and other stake holders asked Governor Jerry Brown to sign AB 266 into law. And a few days later, the Governor did just that. Watch this Assembly Access Video to hear some of Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer’s remarks from the press conference.
