"Several months ago, I advised Speaker Rivas on my intention to step down as Chair of the Assembly’s Public Safety Committee. Speaker Rivas asked me to stay on as Chair until he found a replacement. Focusing on my final legislative agenda while seeking an opportunity to represent the residents of Los Angeles City Council District 10 in the nation’s second largest city will be consuming.
I would like to thank Assemblymember McCarty for stepping up to serve as the new incoming Chair of the Committee and wish him well throughout his term.
It has been an honor to serve as Chair for the past seven years helping to transform our judicial, criminal justice, and policing systems making them more equitable, transparent, and just for all Californians."
