Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer Vows to Protect all Californian’s from Gun Violence

(Sacramento – February 15, 2018)  - Chair of Assembly Public Safety, Assemblymember Reginald Jones-Sawyer, Sr. issued the following statement on yesterday’s school shooting in Florida:

“Our hearts are heavy and full of grief for the individuals affected by the cowardly act that took place in Florida yesterday. A school should provide sanctuary of peace and learning for our children, and should not be a venue for violence.”

“We need to ensure our laws keep guns out of the hands of mentally disturbed people, and require responsible gun ownership. As the Chair of Public Safety, I will continue to fight for the innocent victims of gun violence, despite organizations such as the Firearms Policy Coalition labeling me as a Tyrant. I am proud of California’s gun regulation laws, and will continue to work with my colleagues to make California safe for everyone.”
