Calderon Legislation Calls for Oversight of Community Care Facilities

Friday, April 25, 2014

(Sacramento) - Assembly Bill 1454, a measure introduced by Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) calls for annual, unannounced visits to community care facilities licensed by the Department of Social Services using the key indicator inspection protocol. Assemblymember Calderon says, "Currently, we are operating under a complaint based oversight system that is reactive to issues in our facilities instead of being proactive. Without annual unannounced visits, our state will continue to provide inadequate oversight over these facilities and continue to put our most vulnerable populations at risk."
