Assembly Committee On Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism & Internet Media To Explore California’s Video Game Industry

(Los Angeles) – Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier), Chair of the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media, brought officials and experts together for an informational hearing at the University of Southern California to discuss “California’s Video Game Industry: Staying on Top of a Changing Game”. Assemblymember Calderon called the hearing to examine what the industry looks like now, how California can maintain its leadership role in the field, the role of colleges and universities in training the next generation of game development talent and the future of computer games in research, education, and workforce development. As he opened the hearing, Assemblymember Calderon said, “The video game industry is one of the leading economic drivers of our state and a multi-billion dollar industry, responsible for sustaining thousands of good paying California jobs.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
