Diapers are expensive – as much as $100 a month per child. Sadly, many parents in our community can’t always afford to buy diapers for their babies.
That’s why I’m asking you to join my office, Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter in Whittier, and members of our community for the 2017 Mother’s Day Diaper Drive from May 1 – May 14.
We are accepting diapers at the following locations:
State Capitol, Room 319, Sacramento, CA 94249
13181 N. Crossroads Parkway, Suite 160, City of Industry, CA 91746
Babies who can’t get clean diapers are at greater risk for developing rashes and infections. Daycare facilities—even subsidized programs—won’t take kids who don’t have a full day supply of diapers. Not having diapers is a barrier to good health for babies, and a barrier to employment for parents.
As many as one-third of mothers have trouble affording diapers for their babies. Unfortunately, there are no federal or state programs that help parents afford diapers. This is a crucial need–every diaper we collect will help children and families right here in our community.
I hope we can count on your donation because our children deserve the best possible start in life.
