I am proud to share that I have secured $5.5 million for groups and organizations in my District for programs, services, and new construction projects that will benefit the communities in the 57th Assembly District for years to come.

Statement on SB 14 and the Victims Component

Senator Grove and I met in my office to discuss SB 14. The meeting was productive and the Senator and I believe there is a pathway forward for the bill.

Our respective staffs did discuss suggested amendments to SB 14 on July 7, 2023, but Senator Grove declined the suggestions.

Assembly Public Safety Leaders Announce Critical Retail Theft Study Authorized by Nonpartisan, Little Hoover Commission

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-South Los Angeles), Chair of Assembly Public Safety Committee, and Assemblymember Juan Alanis (R-Modesto), Vice Chair of Assembly Public Safety Committee, announce that the Little Hoover Commission, an independent state oversight agency, has authorized the Assemblymembers’ request to investigate retail theft, shoplifting, and organized retail theft in California.

Legislators to Work on Reparations Recommendations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California reparations task force last week concluded two years of hard work with a 1,100-page, comprehensive report that details the harms of slavery on Black people from California, recommendations of financial compensation and the creation of myriad programs and policies to redress the historical wrongs.
